A big 'THANK YOU' to those of you that gave up your saturday afternoon to give a display of linedancing at Sutton Court Care Home's Garden Party/Barbeque. It was a great success, Melinda who organised the day, has emailed and said "thank you so much for coming down today, It was a great turnout and everyone loved your dancing. I think it was the highlight of the day..." so well done to you all.
I think 3 have already pre-booked their places at the home!!!

A great time was had by all on our linedance weekend to the IOW. Alan Gregory was on top form, don't forget he is live at the Sunray on 15th May and 23rd Oct 2010, also appearing was 4 Card Trick with front man Glenn Rogers. There was plenty of variety to keep everyone happy...good food, fine weather, brilliant teaching, great acts, fancy dress (loved the drag Queens) and a raffle in aid of Spina Bifida...total raised for the raffle was £336. More photos to follow.

PLAIN LOCO at the Sunray: It was a brilliant evening...full house...dancers from Sundowners, Hotshots and elsewhere...Plain Loco were on top form as usual...a full floor for all the evening dancing to both new and old dances...they will be one of the acts appearing at our next linedance weekend away in 2011 along with Natalie and guest choreographer Michelle Risley from Peace train.

DOUG: Doug had his hip replacement op last friday and is OK...it's going to be quiet till he is back on the scene...make the most of it!!!!!!!!!!! Joking aside...everyone sends best wishes and a quick and speedy recovery. Doug update: Doug is out of hospital (they couldn't 'stand' his quips any more) and doing well.

Welcome Back: It's nice to see Nan back on the dance floor after her recent foot operation.

NEW CLASS - SURBITON BRITISH LEGION: first class went really well....lots turned up for the beginners session then stayed for the rest of the session where I played from the dancers requests...a mixture of old and new dances...as none new 'Chica Boom' I taught that...they also wanted to revisit 'Wave On Wave'...a great time was had by all...just a reminder if you are coming you must purchase all drinks from the bar.

NAPPY EVENTS: Congratulations to Emma who is expecting her first in the summer. I'm also granny again my daughter gave birth on the 31st to a little girl weighing in at 7lb 8ozs...yet to be named but known as 'piglet'...UPDATE: now named Lilly Nicolle but will always be known as 'piglet'...poor child!!!

HANDY HINT: Have you smelly dance trainers? If the answer is yes try the following...sprinkle bi carb of soda inside the trainers leave for 24 hours...hoover them out and repeat the process then spray the insides with fabreeze...this should get rid of the smell.

NAPPY EVENTS: Congratulations to two new dancing grannies. Over the weekend Marion become Granny again to a baby boy, Dexter, weighing in at a whopping 8lb 8ozs and to Linda a baby girl, weighing a dainty 5lb 8ozs.

Went shopping to the big Tesco's at New Malden...minding my own business...as one does...and you wouldn't guess who I bumped into???...Betty and Kenny (all the way from Scotland) and no they were not doing there weekly shop!!! Down for a few days to do some DIY for their daughter...but they are going to have a late start on friday so they can come to class.

Which reminds me I have just been contacted to say that we have to finish at midday as there is a funeral and they are having the wake at the Irish Club...so just one price for the session £3.50.

Just returned from a shopping trip to America with my sister and Pat...at the moment I'm all shopped out...got some great bargains...on the first day we woke up at 3am and was shopping from 5am...yes in the middle of the night...we also make good plumbers...don't ask!!!!!!!!!!

Just returned from DJ'ing and hosting the Weymouth Weekend for the IOW Tours...hopefully all of you that went had a great time...feedback seemed that way...all I can say is that the DJ and instructor was 'simply the best' (I have to blow my own trumpet at times!!!) even though I was called 'brillo pad' by Pete from Texas Tornados - do you think it had something to do with my hair!!!!! and last but by no means least...my mother, who is 89, doing 'The Beast' with Pete...if you have a video of this please email it me. ARGOS UPDATE: No one was called back to appear in the TV ad...never mind FAME could be just round the next corner!!!

FAREWELL TO BEA: Bea, one of our longstanding dancers, has moved out of the area. All the friday morning dancers wish you well and hope you find the 'right' house for you...we hope to see you when you 'pop' back to visit friends and family.

We have been approached by a casting company for people to take part in the Argos catalogue Christmas advert. They will be coming to our Tuesday class on 18th August at 7pm to interview and photograph people interested. The shooting will take place between 14th-17th September for one day. Just returned from a brilliant Kate Sala linedance weekend in Holland. Also teaching were two of Hollands top instructors Ria Vos and Daan Geelen. It was a very small event, which was so friendly, with only 14 resident dancers for the whole weekend and about 30 to 40 day tickets. We were lucky enough to have included in our package personal guided tours. One to a little harbour village, Volendam, and the other was to Amsterdam where we went on a canal trip and had a tour through the red light district...which was quite an eye opener. When we got back Pat sat in the window of our hotel but she didn't have takers except for the frogs, which, at night they sounded like ducks quacking!!! The dancing was good as well...we learnt some good dances...there were dancers from England, Holland and Denmark.

It is great seeing Doug back on the floor again after so long ... keep it up Doug ... we have missed your heckling...I had forgotten how peaceful it was without you (only joking) I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Best wishes goes to Nan who fell off a wall and broke both arms whilst gardening...what we want to know is why was she on the wall in the first place...did Nan think she could fly...was she away with the fairies!!!

MEDICAL CORNER: If you have soft corns between the toes to relieve pressure and rubbing then I can recomend 'ProFoot Softgel' multi-use gel padding with self adhesive backing that you cut to size they also do tubing which you can slip over the toe. I brought mine in Tesco's.

It was lovely to see Marion back in action again, looking so well. Also wishing a speedy recovery to Denise, who has fractured a bone in her foot and to Rose, who was bitten by a dog.

We are starting a 'Patbay' corner this month, PBay for short. If you have any items you would like to sell, bring them to the class with your name on, and how much you would like for them. Unlike 'Ebay' there will be no commission, you keep the full amount. Unfortunately, we are not able to store any unsold items, so you would need to take them home and bring them back again if you wish...Now is the time to have a good sort out and make a bit of money!!

It was also a nice shock last week to see Betty and Kenny, our Scottish dancers just turn up. They came down a day earlier so they could attend Hotshots friday morning class before they flew out to Gran Canaria on holiday...thats what you call dedicated linedancers.

A big thank you to Kim, who brought in spring rolls and Chinese cookies to celebrate Chinese New Year.
